German Environmental Award 2002

The managing director of PROPHYTA GmbH, Dr  Peter Lüth, received the German Environmental Award for the development and manufacture of biological pesticides.  
Dr  Lüth shared the award with the Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and the former German Minister for the Environment, Prof  Dr  Klaus Töpfer.
In Magdeburg, the German President, Johannes Rau, presented the European Environment Award, worth 500,000 euros, on the 27th of October.   The German Federal Foundation for the Environment thus acknowledged the services that Prof  Töpfer had provided as the highest ranking German in the UNO for international environmental protection and Dr  Lüth for the development and manufacture of biological pesticides.   With his innovative pioneering work, which can also be used for other applications, e.g.  in the development of new methods for the production of enzymes or pharmaceuticals, Dr  Lüth set a technological standard and caused a worldwide sensation.
