Mission

Responsibility and care, which go beyond environmental aspects, drive PROPHYTA’s activities locally and internationally. With Contans^®WG PROPHYTA achieved its first important goal to provide a biological plant protection product that is competitive with conventional pesticides in price, efficacy and handling. The same was proven for subsequent developments, which are used in conventional farming or integrated pest management. PROPHYTA takes the challenge and will continue the development of stable and sophisticated formulations of effective agents mainly for agricultural use. Continuously seeking for local and international long term relationships with trustworthy partners, PROPHYTA extends a network of competence in the industrial sector of solid-state fermentation and the scientific and commercial agricultural sector. Third parties are invited to join PROPHYTA on this track.

Quality aspects

Continuous mass production of living fungal spores and its stable formulation of standard quality is a challenge. It can only be achieved with highly qualified and well trained employees, who are committed to their job. Distinct features of the products are checked by the quality control for every batch according to defined procedures. The implementation of a quality management system in 2002 is another tool to assure consistent quality or, in the case of failure, possibilities to check them out. Today PROPHYTA is working according to ISO 9001:2008. Quality relevant measures are not stopping at the plant gate. In collaboration with international partners PROPHYTA is tracking transport and monitoring temperature to guarantee that every user world wide receives product meeting the quality features.

The Company

PROPHYTA, founded in 1992, develops, produces and markets biological plant protection products. The products are primarily preparations based on living micro-organisms.
Thanks to the intensive research work and innovative developments of its highly qualified and experienced staff, PROPHYTA has developed Germany’s first biological fungicide, Contans^®WG. The managing director Dr Peter Lüth was honoured for the development and production of biological pesticides with the “German Environmental Award” 2002.

The unique and proprietary PROPHYTA^® fermentation technology, which was developed for the production of Contans^®WG can be used for other biological agents following the same method or potentially for precursor products for e.g. the food or pharmaceutical industry.

Third party companies can profit from the PROPHYTA^® fermentation technology and expertise in fermentation process development by assigning commissioned research, production or formulation services for their identified fungal agents.

PROPHYTA is a participant in several research projects funded by local, national and European governments. In principle, the aim of these research projects is to develop ecologically sound plant protection agents by using micro-organisms.
